Dynamic Seekers of Immanuel "DSI" - is an adult service organization whose annual rummage sale raises money to assist in the ever changing needs of the church, while at the same time services the surrounding community with quality used items at an affordable cost. Bargain hunters have repeatedly complimented us on the quality, selection and organization of our rummage sale. DSI donate all unsold rummage sale items to Redeemer Crisis center located at West 30th & Walton Avenue, just a few blocks from our church.
DSI organizes our annual "Souper Bowl" supper held after services on Super Bowl Sunday which has become a congregation favorite. The congregation looks forward to feasting on as many as two dozen different soups every year.
They also assist the Ladies Aid with the prepping and serving at their annual Pork & Sauerkraut Dinner and over the years they have hosted Sunday Brat luncheons, miscellaneous pot lucks, several Art Auctions, The Franz Family - Bluegrass/Folk/Gospel musicians from Berryville, Arkansas, Chicken Dinners, Stuffed Cabbage Dinners as well as participated in the Tremont Arts Festival.

In the 1970’s, Rev. Horst Hoyer established a Hunger and Crises Center for the benefit of Immanuel’s neighbors. To fund this operation, donations are received from foundations, churches and individuals. Immanuel accepts no governmental funding, enabling its Pastors and guest ministers to hold a brief chapel service prior to the distribution of groceries, feeding both the spiritual and physical needs of our neighbors at the same time. The Center is managed by its Director, Pastor Hoyer, and by volunteers, including Herman Wensel, Wally Hauff, Arley Gardner, Marge Boenker, Paul Epp, Rick Scheutzow, Diane Scheutzow and Cheryl Sikora. Groceries are distributed on the last Wednesday of each month.
Every Sunday after our English service our Bell Choir gathers to practice.
"Our Glocken Chor (German for 'bell choir') began when a few members expressed their joy in the musical sound of the bells. The course was set when the voters of our congregation agreed to purchase a 3 octave set of Schulmerich bells in 1992. The choir was blessed to have a vicar at that time with a musical background and experience with instructing and directing a bell choir. Vicar John Karle led the first practice on September 21st, 1992. Soon after Vicar Karle had to return to seminary to complete his studies and Mr. David Moore picked up the director's baton. Over those almost 25 years our Glocken Chor membership has ebbed and flowed but has performed continuously. The congregation's appreciation of the choir's musical contributions, and the gladness that choir members experience are just two reasons we are fortunate to have our bells choir. " - Heidi Hooper
